Thomas Leslie Warrand Lewsey was born in Middlesex and studied at St Martin's Art School in London. He was in the Territorial Army and served with the Essex Regiment in World War 2 in Sierra Leone and Normandy rising to the rank of Major in 1949.

He was a marine artist who exhibited widely, including at the Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Royal Institute Gallery, Piccadilly, and was honorary secretary of the Chelsea Arts Club. He spent much of his life in Suffolk, moving to Essex during his later years. Framed, glazed and ready to hang, in its original moulded wooden period frame. Painting size 27.5cm x 21.5cm approx. 10 3/4 inches x 8 1/2 inches.

Frame size 44.5cm x 40cm approx. 17 1/2 inches x 15 3/4 inches. Both painting and frame are in excellent condition.
