`Summer Solstice` 1970`s Abstract- George Manchester ARCA (1922-1996) LISTED

Super modern British painting by sought after artist George Manchester depicting the sun rising over a hill at the Solstice. Painted in the mid 1970`s when this sort of subject was very much `in the air`. Reminiscent of a Piper or Nash and quite abstract treatment for this artist. Mixed media with oil pastel over watercolour. New contemporary grey frame and textured mount.

Would look great in a modern interior. Manchester was a painter of landscapes and coastal scenes in oil. He studied at Beckenham School of Art 1946-50 and then at the Royal College of Art in London 1950-53 under John Minton and Ruskin Spear. Manchester exhibited at the Royal Academy, Leicester Galleries, Beaux Art Gallery, and had a one man show at the Redfern Gallery, London.
