For sale is a wonderful shadow box assemblage artwork by the American artist Ronald Stein 1930. Nephew of Lee Kraser (Jackson Pollocks artist wife). Ex-Collection of Charles Cowles New York. This piece features wonderful groupings of classic still life scenes mixed with erotic imagery juxtaposed amongst white bisque bottles forms and figures. Signed: In pencil by the artist in verso.

The bottom board seeing to be taped at the corners (see pictures). Some arranged elements possibly loose.

Measurements: 23 1/2 x 14 1/2 x 1 5/8. Ronald Stein was the nephew of artist Lee Krasner. He studied at Cooper Union and Yale University School of Art before going on to teach at the Art School of the Worcester Art Museum and Rutgers University. Growing up in the presence of Pollock and Krasner exposed Stein to many artists including Franz Kline, Robert Motherwell, Bradley Tomlin, Adolph Gottlieb, Mark Rothko, and Conrad Marca-Relli. Josef Albers served as one of Steins closest mentors. Works by Stein have been exhibited at various institutions including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, New York. Many publications such as the Boston Sunday Globe, New York Herald Tribune, New York Sunday Times, and Arts Magazine have positively reviewed Steins art. Stein, along with Krasner, was commissioned in 1959 to create the murals that now adorn the front façade and the Broad Street entrance of the Uris Building at 2 Broadway in New York City.
