Kazuo Wakabayashi Mixed Media Abstract From David Rockefeller Estate Collection
For sale is an original mixed media oil painting on board by the Japanese Brazilian artist Kazuo Wakabayashi 1931. Provenance: The Peggy and David Rockefeller art collection. As labeled and stamped by the Peggy and David Rockefeller estate.
It features an abstract spherical form with a high textured surface reminiscent of a suspended planet against a black spatial background. The painting is signed by the artist in the crater like form and dated what look like 79 (1979) just before the signature. Liight surface soiling on the white matt board surround the painting. Craquelure in the black painted area but this looks to be an intended affect. The painting retaining original David Rockefeller collection labels and the known Peggy and David Rockefeller estate stamps.

He was born in Kobe, Japan in 1931 and was pupil of Konosuke Tamura, from 1947 to 1950, while he still attended a course at the academy Niki, in his native land. A representative of abstraction and especially art informal, the artist is continually searching for new techniques, colors and materials that he can use for his works.
Emigrating in 1961 to Brazil, Wakabayashi settled down in São Paulo, opting in 1968 for the Brazilian nationality. His first expositions had been in Japan, between 1957 and 1961.
His first individual one in Brazil was given in 1963, Rio De Janeiro, the Tenreiro Gallery, with presentation of Manabu Mabe.
