Interactive Taxidermy Shadow Box Diorama Victorian Doll House Wall Art. I've been dreaming up this piece for months.

I had this old, octagonal wooden shadow box. Wallpapered and floored with paper and sealed. The walls are covered in anthropomorphic rodent portraits. I cast the frames and painted them with metallic gold. In the frames are various portraits of rodents wearing old timey clothes.

The portraits were sealed to make them look like oil paintings. The edges of the walls are trimmed with a fabric trim that I dyed and reinforced to look structural. I built the chandelier from a pair of earrings, some other vintage jewelry findings, and some apoxie sculpt. It's attached to the back of the shadowbox with a clear dowel, and also through the top with silver chain. A tiny glass vial pendant was attached to create a lightbulb.

There's a small mirror on the side wall. Mirror effect was created using a 3 dimensional adhesive liquid.

I had this incredible vintage doll gown that was so old it was disintegrating. But it was so beautiful I had to figure out a way to save it. Many stitches, dyes, ironings, trimmings, treatments, and edits later, I was able to salvage some of it and build a full outfit for this doll. She's mostly Barbie underneath.

Her legs stop at the knees, which are attached to a wooden, rectangular base under her skirt. So she stands upright on her own.

Her head is a large, white rat. She's holding a tiny baby white mouse that's swaddled in an old-timey blanket. The mouse rests gently on a pillow that's attached to the doll's arm, and the mouse's tail wraps around mom's waist for snuggly stability.

Then there's the rambunctious toddler tiny hamster who is also hanging out, being cute. He also stands up in his own. The piece is an ode to overworked mothers throughout time. The Mama doll, hamster, baby, and baby pillow are all fully removable and can be moved around the shadow box and positioned as desired, like a doll house. They are very fragile, however, as they are taxidermy.

The mom's dress isn't really meant to be seen from the back, as it was a salvage job. But her dress has been reinforced and is now very sturdy. The baby is permanently swaddled in that baby blanket, but the little pillow I made to be able to slide off and on the mom's arm, so that's fully removable as well. The toddler can climb up her skirt or stay standing on the floor. He's pretty fragile though. Again, these are real taxidermy pieces and not durable like toys. The front of the shadow box has a door on a swinging hinge that can be opened it closed. It hooks closed on one side.

The box is about 12.5 across and the height is the same. It pops off the wall at a depth of 3, with the front door latched shut. Mounting hardware attached to the back.
