The painting is in excellent original condition and is well presented with a double ivory coloured card mount within a wooden frame. Both the mount and the frame are in excellent condition. Measures 58 x 56cm including the frame, the painting only is 38 x 39cm. Liz Seward Relfe is an artist and teacher.
She was born in London, growing up in St James's Palace where her father was a member of the Royal Household. After studying Art to A level at school she worked at the Natural History Museum where she illustrated the publications and lectures of researchers working there.She also undertook further part time art studies at colleges and with artists including Edward Wesson. In 1979 she qualified as an Adult Education Tutor and from then until her retirement in 2003 she taught drawing, watercolour and mixed media painting for Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire Councils. She also wrote regular articles for The Artist magazine and contributed to several books on painting. Liz has exhibited regularly with the Society of Women Artists of which she became an elected member in 1993, also with The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours and the Mall Galleries.
She is also a member of the Society of Floral Painters and President of the Arun Art Society. My aim is to offer a selection of interesting, well researched works with prices starting at just a few pounds and to increase the appreciation of engravings!
