E ANDERSON Ornithological Mixed Media Painting Reed Warbler Bird Feeding Cuckoo

Original ornithological mixed media painting, depicting a Reed Warbler feeding a Cuckoo chick, by the Yorkshire artist E Anderson (20th Century). Cuckoos visit the UK in the summer and are famously known for being brood parasites. Rather than build their own nest, the females lay their eggs in other birds' nests, especially meadow pipits, dunnocks and reed warblers, and then leave the unsuspecting victim to feed and raise their young for them. Framed, glazed and ready to hang, in a mainly gilt-coloured moulded frame. Painting size 21cm x 26cm approx.

8 1/4 inches x 10 1/4 inches. Frame size 33cm x 36.5cm approx. 13 inches x 14 3/8 inches. The painting has a handful of very faint spots, of possibly foxing, to the paper in places, please see image above for examples of these, otherwise it is in excellent condition. The frame is in excellent condition.
