Original still life oil painting depicting a bouquet of pink flowers, in an off-white ceramic vase. Derek Brown was born in London and, after leaving the army in 1947, he initially trained and worked as a dentist. He began painting in 1954, following the death of his father, who was also an artist, and initially trained at The Heatherley School of Fine Art. He was an exhibited artist who, following several group shows around his home county of Surrey, held his first one-man show in 1972, and went on to become a full-time professional artist in 1984, showing his work both at home and abroad. His still life paintings in the impressionist style feature in collections around the world, and have been reproduced as limited edition prints and greetings cards.
