She exhibited regularly in major Scottish exhibitions including the Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Glasgow Institute and Paisley Art Institute. Cynthia was married to the artist William Birnie.
Cynthia was a Scottish contemporary and Post War artist - William Armour, David Donaldson and Geoffrey Squire were among her tutors throughout her education. Her work has a unique sensitivity to colour, form and mark making, and she is one of Scotland's highly regarded female artists. Notable exhibitions and collections include: the Royal Scottish Academy; Royal Glasgow Institute; the House of Lords, and the Hunterian Museum.
