Panel shows no repairs nor in-painting. Gold gilt, painting's original frame with glass over matting. 1884 Anvers, Belgium/ died 1957 Paris, France. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. His early works were exhibited in 1908 at the Salon in Antwerp.
In 1911, he exhibited in Munich; these works then showed a clear cubist influence. He was mobilized during the First World War.After the armistice, he lived in Paris, and set up his studio in Montmartre, in the Hameau des Artistes, between the Rue Lepic and Junot Avenue, which is where he died. He exhibited his paintings in Paris, Munich, Brussels, Geneva, Italy, Stockholm, London and New York. He is now represented in numerous public and private collections, including the Museum of Modern Art of Paris, in the museums of Le Havre, Rouen, Saint-Etienne, Amsterdam and Tunis.
