Could use a new acid free matting and light cleaning. A few stains to the mat in the lower left corner and slightly dirty and torn mat - could use this replacement but is original to the painting. Image painted on what appears to be an originally brownish surface - white stands out crisp so appears to not have been painted on a white surface (see photos).
