Anne Harriet Sefton Fish Original Mixed Media Tabby cat St Ives Artist. In 1918 she married Walton Sefton, an Irish linen merchant, although she always used her maiden name, signing her works "FISH". A great animal lover, she became particularly well-known for her paintings of cats.
She was also a noted caricaturist and social satirist, contributing drawings to Vogue, Vanity Fair and Tatler in the 1920s and 1930s, and writing and illustrating a number of humorous books of her own. After the war the couple moved to St Ives where she painted from her Digey studio and became involved in the management and hanging of the Newlyn Art Gallery.
Offered here is an original mixed media drawing. A really pleasing image of a Tabby cat. The original backboard reveals that this was an unfinished work of the cat known as Samuel Trelawney who was born in 1958. The artist sadly died in October 1964 therefore it remained unfinished and unsigned. The image measures 36 x 30 cm.The mount measures 47 x 41 cm. Unframed but complete with mount and original backboard. Images show foxing and creasing to the paper. Viewing is very welcome as is cash upon collection.
