My work is inspired by the surrealist idea of art as a reflection of psychic processes. Imagery which hovers on the boundary between abstraction and representation is particularly interesting to me, and I tend to work intuitively and spontaneously without a clear idea of where each piece will end, preferring to let the process of creation itself dictate the finished form of the work. 70cm x 61cm x 4cm.

This work is a hybrid of painting and relief sculpture, formed from offcuts of wood arranged into a precise formal composition and painted on. I wanted to try and translate some of the ideas used in my painting into three dimensions, and to experiment with found materials and the process of assemblage. The work is influenced by modernist abstraction, Russian Constructivism, and the work of artists such as Wyndham Lewis and Kurt Schwitters. This item is in the category "Art\Paintings".
