RARE! 1930s BMT D-Type Front Destination Rollsign New York Subway Vellum

If you're interested, please make us an offer - every one will be carefully considered! This sign came from an extensive private collection. This sign is very rare! You hardly ever see them in this condition.

This sign came from the D Type cars of the BMT subway, which were built by the Pressed Steel Car Company in 1925. There were over 118 3 unit sections built.

The last of them were retired and scrapped in the 1965. A few still exist as part of the museum collection of the New York City Transit Museum. These cars were unique in that they were 3 unit articulated sections. Each car had 2 "signboxs" on the front of the car. One displayed a destination sign, while the other one displayed the route.

When we say It's from an D-Type you can be sure that's what it's from! The section is made of white vellum with white printed lettering. This sign measures 23 inches wide & 26 feet long. The readings on this sign are as follows.

This sign is in excellent condition. Please check out the high-resolution photos. This sign would be great for bar or restaurant decoration, dorm room, den, etc. Also makes that one of a kind gift - you can't find this at Sears or Target.
