Arted was created to promote on an international level the talent of some of the 21st century´s artists: on this particular occasion, as an exception to the rule, we want to pay a tribute to a painter who has been one of the protagonists of the Latin American art of the 19th century. Lucio Ranucci a leading artist in the international art of the 19th century.

Born in Italy in 1925, at the age of twenty Ranucci moved first to Argentina, then to Peru, Ecuador, Costa Rica and to the U. His cultural and artistic background formed mostly in Central America , where he was influenced by some of the greatest muralists, like David Alvaro Siqueiros, José Clemente Orozco and, most of all, Diego Rivera, the one to whom Ranucci was closer. With the prestigious invitations to the 1956 " São Paulo Art Biennial " and to the 1957 " Pan-American Painting Biennial " in Mexico he achieves a critical and commercial recognition which never left him since, at first in the US, then also in Europe.

Ranucci in his studio in Vence in the 80s. Among the public works he accomplished, the mural painting at the San José airport in Costa Rica is particularly noteworthy.

In more than 60 years of activity and 140 exhibitions in 14 countries he gained acknowledgement from the most important international newspapers and art critics; in Italy, the art historians Mario De Micheli and Raffaele De Grada dedicated Lucio Ranucci two monographs. In 1986 De Grada wrote: Ranucci created his own style, with which he interprets time: it is recommended for collections and museums. In Italy many towns dedicated the artist public exhibitions: among the many we find the cities of Rome, Milan, Como, Alessandria Macerata, l`Aquila. Since Ranucci has always lived abroad, this element is of particular importance.

Many italian newspapers have dedicated an article to Ranucci, among them: Il Corriere della Sera, La Repubblica, Il Giornale, Il Messaggero, Il Popolo, Il Giorno, Paese Sera, Il Manifesto, L'Ora di Palermo, Arte, Interni.
