Master print artist from Japan. He took up woodblock prints in 1950. He began experimenting at the Japanese Pront Association in 1953, moved to Tokyo in 1955 and won a series of prizes at Lugano in 1964, the Tokyo International Print Biennale In 1966 and Cracow in 1968. He moved to the IS and started teaching, eventually moving to NY in 1975. He started exploring the positives and negatives inherent in photographic scenes, though always working in woodblock technique.

After his move to NY, becoming more and more conceptual, inspired often by Teilhard de Chardins theories in Le Phenomene Humaine (1955).
