Arnaldo Coen'64 Surreal Abstract Mixed Media Listed Mexican Modernist Artist

Exceptional 1964 abstract mixed media watercolor with ink on a thin parchment paper by important Mexican artist Arnaldo Coen b. He studied with Gordon Jones in the late 1950s and worked in the studio of Lawrence Calcagno in the early 1960s.

Initially influenced by abstract expressionism, Coen's style evolved into a fantastic expressionism. He later worked in theater and set design and was involved in the production of a film exhibited at Documenta 5 in Germany. Coen has exhibited a important venues worldwide, including exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City, the San Francisco Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art in New Delhi, the Sao Paulo Biennial, and the Lourdes Sosa Gallery in Mexico City. This 1964 watercolor and ink painting is signed lower right, measures 9" x 13" (paper size), and is in good condition (paper may have yellowed a bit).
