He started his career making graves for precious family pets by collecting eye-catching debris from the street and compiling these cast off bits into make-shift shrines. Since that time, Rose has evolved as an artist and his media has changed but he has always held firmly to the original notion of art as ritual. Now living in Cork, Ireland, Rose still collects special bits from books or magazines and reappropriates them to create something entirely new--a strange, surreal world seen in his collages and drawings.

Likewise, Rose embraces the fleeting nature of life and tries to capture beautiful compositions the moment they occur and juxtaposes several of these shots for his unique photographs. Alex Rose's first solo exhibition in Los Angeles opened at Kantor Gallery in December 2009.
